Melissa Rackham is a photography graduate student, originally from Washington State; she has a varied background in photography, with degrees in Photojournalism, Studio Art, and Photography. The culmination of her graduate work is a collection of images dealing with place and childhood through unusual compositions, unexpected juxtapositions, and subtle innuendoes. Laden with symbolism, the images hold themes of loss, fear, regret, and the passing of time.
Tim Kinard, originally from Texas, is a graduate student in the Sculpture Program. His MFA thesis work is a series of figurative sculptures that utilize a circus theme as an umbrella in which to investigate the physicality of perceived character images. His figures, which vary in size from two feet to nine feet tall, are set in idealistic situations of tension where they illustrate the vulnerability of heroes and peers.
