Material is excited to announce its tenth exhibition of the 2008 season: Clayton Colvin: Pier and Ocean and Main St.
Pier and Ocean and Main St will open with a reception for the artist on Friday, December 5th from 6-8 pm.

The exhibition will run through December 27.
About the exhibition Colvin writes: “Pier and Ocean and Main St. is a body of work I completed while living for a year in Fairhope, Alabama. Fairhope is a former artist colony on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. While living in Fairhope I worked as a arts administrator at a non-profit in downtown Mobile. The social and geographic distance between the two locations, -separated by the bay itself- created a very isolated, fertile, studio situation.”
In August of 2005 Colvin received his MFA in painting from the University of Alabama. He received an undergraduate degree in Art History from NYU in 1999 and holds a Masters in Art Education from UAB. This will be his second exhibition at Material.
Material is located at 2553 Broad Avenue. Parking is available on both the north and south sides of Broad Avenue.
