Adam Shaw Studio and Holly James are excited to announce a sculpture exhibition: Shannon O’Daniel and Nikkila Carroll: Internal Affairs, External Shares.
Internal Affairs, External Shares will run One Night Only, Friday April 24th
The reception for the show will be held at 2547 Broad Avenue from 6 - 8 p.m., Friday April 24, 2009.
Internal Affairs, External Shares focuses on the dynamic of relationships and how ones actions relate to the lives of others. Dealing with the evolution of self discovery and outward expression, each artist addresses a portion of social interaction within society. While the two works differ in visual forms of representation, the underlying concepts relate to the introspective investigation of the self within its contextual surroundings. Working separately with these ideas, both artists have collaborated to create a central statement to intertwine their separate visual aesthetics. The exhibition will display the opposing visual languages of the artists’ individual work as well as the dynamic visual form created from a collaborative relationship.
Shannon O’Daniel is currently in her third year undergraduate student at Memphis College of Art and will receive her BFA in May of 2010. Nikkila Carroll is also a current undergraduate student at Memphis College of art. The two have participated in the group show Flocculent Femmes Ceramic Exhibition at the Five in One Gallery. Shannon has also shown work in the Sculpture Exhibition and Teacher Select Show, at the Memphis College of Art.
