The Bad at Sports Podcast

In 2006 a friend of mine emailed a link to the Kerry James Marshall interview on the Bad at Sports podcast. Since then it has been a Sunday morning ritual to go down to the studio, download the weekly podcast and listen while I paint. It has become one of the things I reference on a daily basis in conversations (after I talk about that day's Howard Stern, Fresh Air, Radio Lab, or This American Life). To cut and paste from their website: "Bad At Sports is a weekly podcast about contemporary art. Founded in 2005, the series focuses on presenting the practices of artists, curators, critics, dealers, various other arts professionals through an online audio format. Some of the program’s guests include Rodney Graham, Kerry James Marshall, Francesco Bonami, David Robbins, Carol Becker, James Rondeau, Jeff Wall, Hamza Walker, Lane Relyea, James Yood, Michelle Grabner, Gavin Turk, Dominic Molon, and Julian Myers." The show presents a good mix of artists, curators, and critics. It's a great insight into the Chicago art community and how many of their issues echo the things that are happening here in Memphis (or any other city that's not New York or LA).
